Trackside Tanning Tips for Faux Glow Fillies

Frock, check, fascinator, check, but Faux Glow?  Here's how not to f up your fake tan this race season.

72 Hours Out

Days Before Start 3 days prior with exfoliating your skin and thorough de-fuzzing.

Using an exfoliating mitt not only helps to remove any old sunless tan, but it will also buff off dead skin cells for glowing skin.

Another perfect tan prep tool is the coffee and organic coconut scrub.  This super scrub leaves your skin soft and silky and smelling like heaven.

24 Hours Out

Though shall not tan on race day - or any event day.  So the day before you frock up - is Tan Day.

Tan is best applied to clean dry skin.  Give yourself plenty of time to air dry, and don't plan any physical activity while you are waiting for your tan to develop.

Wearing light, loose comfortable clothing will make sure you don't have any unwanted marks on your skin.  So take the time to chill and plan your race day ensemble.

Even with an express tan, only 40% of the colour will happen in the first few hours, with the rest of your bronzed bod taking sometimes 12-18 hours to hit its full potential.

We love Custom Tan's Self Tanning & Instant Bronzer Mousse.  This bottle of bronzed love has been voted Australia's Best Self Tan 3 x by independent review.  Available in regular and ultra dark.  There's a shade suitable for every skin.

Tan Tip: for flawless application, always use a self tanning mitt.  Not only will it prevent your hands from getting stained, but it will also allow you to smooth the tan out on your skin as you go.

The Travel Tan will give you a subtle colour while quenching your skin with much needed post winter hydration with the added benefit of sunscreen

Race Day

By now you'll be glowing and ready for the big day.

Don't apply any more tanning products to your skin today.  Instead, apply talcum powder to any areas of skin where your dress may rub on your tan.

Powder will help prevent friction from fitted areas of your dress, and will also work to absorb any perspiration, keeping you dry and your frock clean.

Now you're picture perfect and ready for the birdcage.  Be sure to tag @customtan in your race day pics with the hashtag #thetanthatstoppedthenation for your chance to win a $100 Custom Tan Prize Pack.  x
